Fat Friends

I was surfing the 'net today when I stumbled across this article . It's about friendships being made stronger over food. And I can see that. Who doesn't like to get together with their friends to talk about their issues over lunch or dinner? Or laugh and kid with a DVD, some wine and popcorn? That's what friends are for...Or as Wendy and I like to say, that's what fat friends are for. When I'm coming to town, my best friend and I have this EXACT conversation: "Wendy, I wanna put you on call. I'm comin' to NY (insert random date here) and I may need a ride from the airport." "Okay, which airport? Newark, isn't it? Why do you always fly into Newark?" Insert ramblings of work and class shedule and how much she hates Newark, then with a gasp, "You're coming, I'm so excited! What are you gonna cook? You gonna bake a poundcake? Or how about a peach cobbler? Yay, we get to be fat friends!" You read right: fat friends. F...

Days Go By

Well, well, well...Looks like we're at that time of the year when there are **gasp** NO holidays to celebrate!! That's right, we've got 3 WHOLE MONTHS before we need to start lookin' for Mother's Day flowers , barbecue tips for Memorial Day, or diamond men's watches to give our dads. We are holiday free!! YAY!! What to do with all this time? Well I for one plan to focus on SubUrban Underground, keep my ass in the gym (got a wedding to go to in September and I'm the dumb ass who picked this dress ), get my money right and start in on my plan to get a crib. Take note, all those plans have to do with ME, MYSELF and I. I'm over being "good ol' reliable Katrina." I'm not visiting anyone til they come to the ATL (all contingent upon the ass situation, of course), I'm not givin' any more advice to be ignored, I'm done with the whole ordeal. Good ol' reliable Katrina used to be happy just hearing her friends say thank you, but ...

Baby Boy

Ask any one person about me, they'd tell you I was one of the strongest personalities they'd ever been in contact with. Some may say stubborn, some may say sweet, some may say reliable, some may say funny, some still will call me a bitch. The point is, no matter what word they use, it's the one characteristic that stands out to them about ME. I am my own person, there is no one like me nor can anyone change me. Once I've made up my mind, it's done. "A wrap," which was once (and still is) one of my favorite phrases. I like to see things from beginning to end and don't half-ass is on the way there. In my circle of influence, there's a constant flow of energy from all sides. I give my friends the strength and courage they need to handle their lives, they in turn give me perspective to understand things aren't always black and white, cut and dry. They inspire me and I inspire them. It's a wonderful thing to be able to give and take from a true ...

Sure, Why Not

You know the drill. Every 14th of February you get the chance to display your fondness for a significant other by showering her with gifts, flowers, dinner, shows and any other baubles that women find romantic. Every Valentines day you rack your brains for that one special, unique gift that will show your wife or girlfriend that you really do care for them more than any other. Now ladies, I'll let you in on a little secret; guys really don't enjoy this that much. Sure seeing that smile on your face when we get it right is priceless, but that smile is the result of weeks of blood, sweat and consideration. Another secret; guys feel left out. That's right, there's no special holiday for the ladies to show their appreciation for the men in their life. Men as a whole are either too proud or too embarrassed to admit it. Which is why a new holiday has been created. March 14th is now officially "Steak and Blowjob Day". Simple, effective and self explanatory, this holi...

The Chris & Trina Shhooo-ooo-ow!

Image
Typical conversation between me and my brother (Aaron McGruder has cameras in my closet, I swear). Except I usually add "and I don't have my personal soundtrack playing." Well I'm off to Florida, catch you guys in a week or so. Trust me, I'll have plenty of stories. We'll talk about the coochie credit card, the UPS man, the telemarketer and all my Orlando shenanigans! Til then, hope you enjoyed this little peek into the Chris and Trina Show! :-D
