My Compliments to The Bert Show

I really do love listening to The Bert Show. This morning was the best and most exciting radio I've heard in a while. Not to say their other shows aren't awesome, but their other shows haven't incited me like they did this morning. Let me explain.

First, I LOVE NKOTB. Always have and apparently, always will. But my love affair with the best boy band since New Edition was tainted -- by one Jordan Knight. If you've read my blog before, you know that my brother and I were avid listeners (and fans) of his self-titled solo CD. Well, before moving to Atlanta, my dad bought us tickets to see him perform at B.B. King's in New York City. We got there early with a whole day planned and when we passed B.B. King's, the marquee read (verbatim) "Jordan Knight of NKOTB." Figuring it had to be listed like that to sell tickets, we thought nothing of it and went about our day. WOW, were we wrong.

The show consisted of Mr. Knight singing just his part of popular New Kids on the Block songs, promoting his new CD, "Jordan Knight sings New Kids on the Block: The Remix Album," complaining about his baby mama and light (celver?) banter with his hypeman/backup dancer/manager/rapper. And please believe me when I tell you six that we tried, tried to get him to sing songs from his solo CD and that resulted in a half-hearted performance of one of my favorite songs, "Separate Ways," and a launch into his new song that I've since blocked out like a childhood rape memory (yeah, THAT bad).

Which brings us to the events of this past week. With the recent announcement of not just the REUNION of New Kids on the Block, but the RE-INTRODUCTION of New Kids on the Block, The Bert Show decided to send Super-Producer Tracey out to L.A. to find them and land an interview. And land them she did!! Kudos, kudos, but that is not the point of today's blog.

When I heard the boys were coming back out, my excitement was muted as I was skeptical about the return, thanks to my experience at B.B. King's. I was happy, but very tentative because I couldn't leave myself open for heartbreak. UNTIL TODAY. They played a clip of a song called "Click, Click" and it sounded AMAZ-ZA-ZING!! I am now so super excited about the new album and tour I don't know what to do with myself. I immediately texted my brother how great it's going to be and might have convinced him to come out here to see a show!! That may be pushing it, but we'll see!!

So, my compliments to The Bert Show, they rocked it and re-ignited my fan flame!! Looks like it's a good thing I didn't toss my NKOTB blanket...
