Mystery Dan

In celebration of Justin's birthday, the usual suspects headed out for a night of fun filled adventures. Below's a breakdown of our activities (there's a story in here, don't worry), I think you'll enjoy. If not, at least I have it documented.

OVERALL GOAL FOR THE NIGHT: F.U.B.A.R

Desintation #1: Fellini's
Goal: Pizza & beer

We went dutch at Fellini's, which was my only true participation in the evening's shenanigans. I enjoyed my spinach calzone and Blue Moon with orange and was ready to head home. Justin offered to pay my way in to destination #2, so I agreed and went so far as to promise a drink for drink match up to attain the evening's overall goal.

Destination #2: The Punchline
Goal: Laughs & alcohol

Justin and I are HUGE fans of the show Reno: 911!! as I'm sure many of you are. Jim Schubert, a comedian on the show, was performing at The Punchline Saturday night, that's where we headed. Since Justin was paying my way, I was super excited and very happy to tag along. Not to mention that after a half a pitcher of beer, I was ready to move closer to the evening's overall goal.

Once in the Punchline, I ordered Justin my favorite drink -- a Jack & Coke. Now, I was never a Jack & Coke fan until I ordered one from The Punchline. There are many drinks I discovered in my attendance to that club that only THEY know how to make right. Either way, the move to hard liquor was accelerating my inebriation and I was EXCITED.

Enter "Mystery Dan."
Opening for the opener was a pretty funny lawyer named Jamie. Jamie's a managing partner in the club and, like I said, pretty funny. The opener was a young man by the name of what I THINK is "Dan McGhee," who has a website by the name of what I THINK is FartTV.com. I have yet to find either the comedian OR the website, and I've exerted ALL searching possibilities.

Dan was funny as hell. Granted, he may have been high, drunk, or a combination of the two, but he was funny as hell. The topics he chose were straight out of my life. Needless to say, I came down with "Killing Me Softly" syndrome. What's that? It's when you see a performer and become attracted to them because what they're saying, singing or playing speaks to you. Be it a rift that sends tingles to your heart, a line that makes you cry or something that just makes you laugh. Whatever it is that touches you, you want nothing more than to get to know that person better.

I'm not saying a lifelong friendship or relationship gets formes, but there is something about them that makes you want to get closer. Much like the lyrics in the song "Kiling Me Softly."

Herein lies the rub: I have NO idea where to find this kid. I tried googling him (why does that ALWAYS sound dirty?), the website, any and everything I could think of, to no avail.

So I can't find the comedian that brightened up my night and stayed on my mind the rest of the night. Guess he will forever be my "Mystery Dan."

As for the rest of the night's shenanigans...let's just say I got home at 5am and was still drunk Sunday afternoon. Good times.
