Lil' Bits
Let's talk about the new NBA dress code. After all the uproar and upset over not being able to go to games in a white tee and some jeans, I must say the boys look damn good. Everyone from AI to Jason Kidd is lookin' good enough to eat. Ladies, if there was ever a time to get into sports, it would be now. If not for the pure enjoyment of it or the bonding with your boo, then for the eye candy these handsome fellas are providin'! Enjoy...
All right, it's December 1st, which means a few things. First, it's 3 days before my ultimate BK shorty's birthday (blog to be posted later). Second, it marks the 17 day countdown to another big person's birthday (wink wink cough). Third (and most important), December 1st is World AIDS Day. I heard a staggering statistic yesterday: AIDS is on the rise again. Apparently, there's a new generation out there that again feels like they're untouchable and are goin' around bangin' their brains out. Now, as a young black female (that's 3, count 'em, 3 minority groups), I was blown away by this and did a little research. I found that 50% of newly diagnosed AIDS cases are African Americans, 61% of those are between the ages of 13 and 24, ain't that about a bitch?!? We even have our own AIDS Awareness Day, check it out. Now, I've been celibate (for longer than I care to mention), so I can safely say I'm HIV/AIDS/STD free, but it doesn't stop me from getting tested every six months (in case the **ahem** occasion happens to rise) to make sure I have no worries. And you know what, I'm terrified EVERY time but that's a different blog for a different day (think of an ex asking you how it was possible for you not to have HIV when you got tested, like he was waiting for your diagnosis to determine his own...bastard). Please don't wait until December 1st to get tested for HIV, just cuz it's free and they have all the promotions, make it a year round thing. Think about it: December's the last month of the year, if you wait for it, that's 12 months of unchecked sexual activity. It's not that bad, go with a friend or your partner, make it a field trip or an activity, do something to take the fear out of it. I don't know, just suck it up, get tested, get over it and stay safe. I'll get off my soap box now...
I don't know what to get ANYONE for Christmas, that sucks. I don't even know who I'm getting gifts for outside of my dad and my brother. It's so damn expensive when you love and care about EVERYONE. Then you can't get something for this one cuz that one will be jealous, bl-bl-bluh. It's retarded, the entire ordeal. Then there's getting a gift from someone you didn't get a gift for (as my brother would say, "OOOh, that hurts!") and having to scramble to work somethin' out. Or the giving someone a gift thinking they'll love it and you get the "Oh man" look before they give you the fake thank you and light hug. I'm thinkin' about just tellin' everyone to look out for the December 26th holla, cuz life in the ATL is rough. I know it's the thought that counts, so to all my friends, know I'm thinkin' about you. Not just on Christmas, either, EVERYDAY!! :-D
I was asked out on a date last night, which isn't weird, but it's so funny, cuz I'm sick like a dog and look terrible. When I'm on my p's and q's, I'm singin' Patti Labelle ("On My Own"), but lookin' like a cracked out fiend gets me hollered at. Maybe it's time to swtich up the game on 'em. :-P
Lastly, I wanted to do a little promotion, so here goes:
