We're All Aliens

If you thank your mothers for nothing else this Mother's Day, thank her for giving birth to you in the United f'n States. Ever taken one of those quizzes on MSN asking if you think you could pass the citizenship test? When you think of the national anthem, pretty much any American can sing it using the correct words and the correct key, not to mention taking GREAT pride in hitting the high note on the word "free."

But here's a fun little tidbit for ya: the Star Spangled Banner has 4 VERSES! You read right, 4 verses. Check it out. Furthermore, get this, citizen wannabes have to know all 4 verses! So I may cry and complain and laugh at that idiot I call Bush, but if it came down to it, I'd end up deported to Haiti if I had to sing the national anthem.

Did YOU know there were 4 verses to the Star Spangled Banner? Well, read up and memorize it. Why? Cuz (and this may just be MY fantastical brain) you never know when Bush will implement a policy like Joe Clark, when you have to sing the national anthem on demand or get kicked outta the country!!

Is That Eyeliner You're Wearing, Charlie Day?

So I was watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia a few weeks ago when I noticed that Charlie 's eyes were so prominent. He's a funny little man whose antics never fail to please so I pushed it to the back of my mind. I know people wear eyeliner to bring out the expression in their eyes because the lighting drowns it out, whatever floats your boat. And you never know, he may have REALLY pretty eyes that just look like he's wearing eyeliner. Then I was watching last night and realized there was no DOUBT Charlie was wearing eyeliner and I couldn't shake it. It really took me out of it. What's So Different

I was talking to my cousin Debbie (the Princess) about dating last night when we ended up arguing about cultural differences. We're both Haitian, but I was raised Black American (that term itself is from the Haitian culture) whereas as she was raised with the culture deeply imbedded. I can honestly say I started "learning" how to be Haitian when I was 17. My friends all knew I was Haitian, but also knew I was basically in a Southern family. It's a long story, but I was kept as far away from anything Haitian as long as my mother could help it. That's just a little background, on to the argument. Now, Debbie and I are like night and day when it comes to men. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed and I cut someone before they get to use me.
