Don't Be A Fool...Wrap Your Tool
Another JustTrina-ism I'm famous for is my conversation ending "Don't be a fool, wrap your tool." I say it to everyone. From Kristy all the way up to my dad. I just say it to say it, I'm corny like that. And I don't care.
Anyway, that phrase has never rung truer since the death of Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. Singlehandedly, Rehnquist was that ONE vote that maintained the majority to uphold the Roe v. Wade decision (pardon the redundancy). Now homeboy's dead. Normally, I wouldn't be worried, but things aren't lookin' too bright for the Pro Choice Movement.
My cousin Richard said the other night that I should expect abortion to be illegal by next year. At first, I began to protest. Then I thought back to Bush's nomination of the oh-so conservative John Roberts and realized we may be in some trouble. With Roberts moving up to take Rehnquist's place, there's still a vacancy to replace O'Connor. O'Connor's a woman, so naturally, the democrats are pushing for Bush to fill the position with the same. Even further, they're pushing for a minority woman. Personally, I think Judge Hatchett is awesome, but she's a bit conservative herself. Well, there's one more spot to fill and after California pulled this, I don't think Bush is looking at ANYONE over there (sorry!).
As a woman who is ProLife personally and ProChoice overall, this issue hits home. I feel like abortion is a HARD decision a woman must come to. It's also a freedom that need not be abused. It's a way to give yourself a clean slate so to speak (SUCH a bad choice in wording), but not to be used as just another form of birth control. If you're not ready to be a baby mama/daddy, keep your damn legs closed, get on birth control or use damn condoms. Hell, get on birth control AND use condoms. Make sure you don't end up with a baby if you don't want one.
Hopefully, it will all work out in the end, but you never know. So start now. Abstinence and celibacy are the ways to go, but for all you horn dogs out there, be safe. If you don't want who's on the bench to affect you, take measures to take care of yourself. Don't be a fool, wrap your tool!
