TO for T.O.
I've been following this whole drama with Terrell Owens, wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, for like a week now. Well, since camp started. For some reason, I have cycles where I sweat sports and then could care less. But football's always been the one that kept my attention. Could it be because my hot quarterback boyfriend from back in the day introduced me to it? Who knows, but it's football first for me, then basketball, then baseball.
Anyway, T.O. (Terrell) was asked to leave camp cuz he was generally being a dick, to put it nicely. And as all dicks like to act, he didn't leave quietly, he held an impromptu press conference on his way to some island and told "the public" he knew why he was sent home and that Donovan McNabb knew as well. Talk about cryptic. McNabb didn't take that lying down, as you can only guess. He tried, like a soldier and laughed it off, but eventually got real urban and told T.O. to keep his name out his mouth. Having used that term myself, good ol' Donovan's a foot away from kickin' T.O.'s ass.
Anyway, Terrell's coach Andy Reid said he's not letting him on the field until they discuss some things and T.O. gets over himself. Meanwhile, while McNabb and Owens are pulling a Shaq and Kobe, the Eagles are suffering. They lost to the Steelers 38-31 and everyone says it's because of the absence of T.O. Now, the wondrous receiver is supposed to be back Wednesday, but things aren't lookin' too good. Now I don't know about you, but if I had a 7-year, $49 million contract with the Eagles, I'd suck it up and deal. I mean, he's babblin' about all types of nonsense about doing it for his family and blah blah blah, but ya gotta look at the guy's track record. He refused to play for the Baltimore Ravens, just cuz and got away with it. He's only been with the Eagles what, a year? And he's ready to bounce again. Hell, this year alone, he's missed massive days of camp due to a "groin injury." He hates Philly (McNabb) and wants out. And where's he lookin'? You got it, right out here in HOT Atlanta. He's already got a house out here, too. But guess what, the Falcons gave him (well the press) the big n-o and I applaud them for that. No use in bringing in someone you know has a history of showing no kind of loyalty to any team (well, he was with the 49ers for a few years, I'll give him that).
All that aside, T.O. is talented, I'll give him that. And the combination of him and McNabb has the potential to be unstoppable (a 70-yard pass? ridiculous!), taking the Eagles all the way to the top. But all the talent in the world won't get you anywhere if you continue to act like a fickle diva. A diva is one thing, cuz at least your team knows you'll deliver when the time comes, but if your team can't even call whether or not you're gonna show up for camp, then there's no trust. And if there's no trust, then the entire foundation of your organization is shot to shit. No team can win on that, the confidence is gone. And, as one phenomenal young man once quoted, the team with confidence has already won whereas the team without has lost before it has even started (something like that, I have A.D.D. and didn't really feel like double checking).
So my advice to Mr. Owens is this: suck it up, get the hell over yourself and work it out. I was once told that not everything has to do with me and I think someone needs to pass the same memo on to T.O. I like to watch football, not Days of Our Lives. If I wanted drama mixed in with my sports, I'd watch WWE. If you think you can't deal, T.O., then take a damn TO, cuz this season seems promising to get that ring. Dumbass.
