Blog the World
I was reading waiterrant's blog (I like to keep up with my favorites, and his is one!) and I stumbled across an interview he'd done for NYU's Digital Journalism class. It wasn't so much the interview I took notice of, but the fact that blogging has become such a phenomenon. We now live in a world where less and less people are spending 50 cents to read the paper, but are instead spending hours in front of a computer reading it. With even more popularity, people are blogging. The word "blog" is short for weblog, an online diary of sorts. A blog is an outlet where people can share thoughts, beliefs and quirky tidbits about themselves with the world behind a curtain of anonymity.
Well, NYU's THISISNOTABLOG site is pretty awesome. I was reading a lot of interesting things about blogging and how it's gonna change the world. The thing about blogs is that they're meant to be entertaining. Your education level or economic status don't matter when you're blogging. All that matters is that you're REAL. One thing I know is that people love people (except for those on Paxil, but then again, why do you think thet take it?). If you're honest, you're blogging right. That's it, a blog is honesty in its purest form. So save yourselves a few hundred bucks a week, skip the psychologist, sit in front of your computer and start a blog.
Now, there are quite a few active blogs out there (3 million, to be exact). With its gaining popularity, I'm sure there will be many more, but there are a couple that may tickle your fancy. MySpace, one that a lot of my friends and coworkers like, and of course, Blogger. There are some people out there who have no idea what blogs are and may not even care, but it's the wave of the future, I tell ya. Word on the street is that some corporations are even looking to hire bloggers for their websites, so be on the lookout. Who'da thought you could get paid, just for running your mouth?
Speaking of good blogs, check out this blog, pretty interesting. Anyone agree with these rules? I personally don't think there should be any rules, but that's me. And I'm single, so 'nuff said! :-P
